As if it wasn't bad enough that the BEP are pulling whole comments, it now appears they are EDITING them to suit their own ends. This happened to me yesterday, changing the whole context of the post. I am REALLY fed up and have sent the following e mail to the BEP
To Whom it may concern,
Yesterday afternoon I posted a comment (under the name Smellysox!) on
the story about the father who had logged onto a site with his 4 year
old son only to be confronted by a porn pic.
I responded to a previous comment by Nikita. Nikita's comment was along
the lines that she was shocked that a 4 year old new what a 'winkie'
was. In my comment I made the point that a 4 year old should know where
his 'winkie' was as he had been using it since birth! This is a FACT,
it is not a rude or dirty comment to make, so imagine my shock and
quite frankly disgust to log on later in the evening to find that this
part of my post had been removed. I posted a further comment asking WHY
it had been edited which was removed when I checked back later. A
third post was also removed.
I have had no contact from the BEP to say why they have censored my
posts and I am very concerned to find that one of my posts was edited
rather than removed., it leads me to wonder how many other posts have
been edited to change the tone, relevance or meaning of the posters
comments.
In the interest of fairness and free speech I find the editing and
removal of non offensive posts that don't breach your own guidlines
completely out of order.
Removal of a full post is one thing but under NO circumstances should
the BEP have the right to edit a post. If the BEP doesn't like the
content it should remove all of it not just some of it.
I know many of the regular posters on the site are becoming
increasingly more frustrated at the heavy handed approach that the
moderators take, often removing ligitimate posts for unfathomable
reasons. The exception to this seems to be posts from Mike Ford, who,
it appears, is able to say whatever he likes with impunity.
I have no problem with truly offensive posts being removed however I
suggest that the moderators adhere to the proper rules and regulations
and not just their own preferences (which it has to be said are in the
main left wing and overtly politically correct!) Everyone has a right
to post comments in the confidence that there voice will be heard and I
suggest that if this is too hard for the BEP to swallow then they
remove the ability to leave comments altogether!
