Hi there

Myself and my gf will be buying a house in the coming months, and she has seen a few houses she likes in Warmley and the surrounding areas.

We currently live and work in Bath, but wish to move somewhere a little less expensive and then commute to work each day. I am in the process of learning to drive, so hopefully I'll be driving by the time we move. If not, are the bus services to Bath good?

We are both 26, and are pretty outgoing people. Would Warmley be a good place to move to?

Anyone with any advice, local knowledge or honest opinions is more than welcome to reply.

Many thanks.

I'm surprised Warmley is cheaper than Bath. Longwell Green, Keynsham maybe, but Warmley?

Anyway, from what I have seen of of the place I like it. Beware though, the council want to build extensively on green belt land in that area:

http://www.saveourgreenspaces.org/swag_index.html

...you don't want to buy a nice place with a view only to find a couple of years down the line they slap a housing association blot on it.

As to commuting, you'll have to offset what you save by what it costs to commute, both finacially and emotionally. I moved to Keynsham for the very same reasons to commute to Bristol and sometimes I wish I had just bought a small place near the centre instead. Despite being geographically close it can take an hour each way due to general congestion. And Firstbus are rip-off merchants-you'll be looking at circa £4.00 each every day, even on the P&R.

Parking is equally expensive. NCP is about £8.00 per day. I think it's about the same in Bath e.g. Charlotte Street.

Best of luck.

Cheers for that.

Like I said, the plan is to be driving by early next year(when we'd be buying) and my work offers free parking so that's not an issue.

Cheaper houses are available in Bath, but we'd rather live in a nice area and have to travel than live in a lesser one without the travelling.

What is Keynsham like price wise, and how far from Bath?

Keynsham is cleanly divided into the posh bit East of the Wellsway Road (dubbed 'Wellsway area' by estate agents) and the ahem, not so posh bit on the west side. Wellsway is expensive, like Saltford and Bath, the other side is cheaper. TBH though if you're looking for 'nice' perhaps you'd best stick with Warmley if you can afford it.

Thanks for that.

I think it will be Warmley we'll be buying in, we've already seen a couple of properties we like.

Any Warmley dwellers on here that can recommend it?

If it was me I'd rent for a few months first. That way you'll get to know the area and can have a really good look around before you buy. That way if you aren't happy you can move quickly!!

Good luck and welcome to Bristol

Cheers Big G, thats exactly the kind of info I was looking. Should be driving by the time we move, but bus details were what I needed.

Many thanks
